2014 – on going series
The monument has always been something “imposed” from above, which showed the people what values to follow. The project develops like a photographic archive which, reflecting on the relevance of the monument, tries to overturn its direction. I walk around the cities with a red ladder, asking the people I meet to participate in the project and “perform” their idea of a monument. The participants, in addition to the idea they want to express, also choose the place to take the photograph and the title of their personal “sculpture”. The photographs with which the performances are documented therefore each represent an idea, a value, a memory, and therefore a type of study, on the concept of monument, on plastic, on colors and on all those aesthetic and ethical values that are part of it.
