The ‘Poems’ series consists of short videos that investigate minimal gestures or situations that are ‘peripheral’ to our daily lives and refer to different places and times. They are video poems created according to the compositional structure of Japanese Haikus, namely, they are composed of three scenes – as haikus are composed of three verses – filmed at different times and places, often far apart in time, juxtaposed due to visual or conceptual similarities and of which one of the scenes somehow subverts the sense of the whole in order to trigger emotional connections. The videos are also accompanied by Haiku written by the artist in a process of literary transposition after the video.
