Merry Ramadan

2003

Tirana Albania, December 2003 in the middle of the city there’s a mosque. The Ramadan is just finished and the mosque is still full of lights for the celebration of Bairam (the ending celebration of Ramadan). Lights bought in one of the many street markets of Tirana; the same lights that people use for their Christmas trees; these lights are particular: they play “Gingle bells” and “I wish you a merry Christmas”. So every night the mosque becomes a paradox of our society, symbol at the same time of the two most important religion of the world.
